Hiremech has completed the delivery of four new Hyster C1.5L VNA (very narrow aisle) trucks to freight logistics specialists, P W Gates. The new machines, which will operate at their new warehouse hub in Bedford, will help deliver significantly improved productivity and efficiency to all aspects of operations.

The new trucks are the latest in Hyster’s VNA range and have been specifically designed to operate in high intensity applications whilst still offering a low cost of operation. There is also the capability to work safely at height (up to 17 metres), which means P W Gates can optimise storage capacity whilst allowing their drivers to efficiently retrieve and transport pallets.

Hiremech’s specialist VNA team has been involved throughout the project, providing guidance on selecting the right machines for the application and expert assistance with the installation of the equipment. This proactive approach has provided clarity to all parties and ensured that P W Gates have been able to hit the ground running following delivery of the machines.

P W Gates has had a relationship with Hiremech for over 15 years and they now supply and support the majority of P W Gates’ nearly 80-strong MHE fleet.. The partnership has been critical to the growth within the business, with a wide variety of equipment  operating across all four of the P W sites. Hiremech provide an enhanced quality of products and services, with customer retention and customer service as a priority; P W Gates have an on-site engineer to fully-support the 24/7 operation.

Peter Gates, Managing Director commented “We are looking forward to our continued collaboration and partnership with the delivery and installation of the four new Hyster C1.5L very narrow aisle trucks. Our new VNA’s will improve our pace of load handling as they are able to process considerably more pallets than counterbalance forklifts, which will give us exceptional efficiency.”

Chris Lynch Development Director commented “Our growth plan for our new warehouse in Wixams included very narrow aisle pallet racking as part of the fit-out. Working with Hiremech’s specialist VNA team as part of that plan, we now have four new efficient customised VNA forklifts, and this investment will expand our business operations and improve our productivity.”

Brian Lacey-Smith, Hiremech’s Key Account Manager, commented: “We are delighted to have completed delivery of this new fleet of Hyster VNA forklifts to P W Gates.

“As an industry leader in distribution and freight logistics, P W Gates required an equipment solution that ticked every box and could support the development of their business moving forward. The new Hyster VNA machines will not only provide a boost to productivity in the short term, but also help deliver long term and sustainable success to their operations.

“The new trucks have been customised to operate in their warehouse layout and comfortably have the capacity to manage the projected workload and intensity levels. Our VNA specialists have helped ensure a smooth installation of the equipment and we’re looking forward to seeing the positive impact that these new machines will have on the P W Gates business.”
