As a growing business, having the right materials handling equipment in place can make a significant difference to day-to-day operations, particularly when moving into a new facility designed to increase capacity.
For Momo Kombucha, continued growth and investment meant its materials handling requirements were evolving too. Having worked with Hiremech since 2021, the company once again turned to the team for a solution that would provide the flexibility, capacity and manoeuvrability needed within its new temperature-controlled facility.
A partnership built around growth
Momo Kombucha has been a Hiremech customer since 2021, when Hiremech initially supplied the business with a four-wheel electric counterbalance forklift on long-term rental.
As demand for Momo Kombucha’s drinks increased, its equipment requirements developed alongside the business. Hiremech subsequently supplied a 2-tonne lithium-ion counterbalance truck, power pallet trucks and short-term rental equipment to provide additional support as production increased.
The next stage in Momo Kombucha’s growth came as the company prepared to move into a new facility, supported by a successful £2 million funding boost designed to substantially increase its production capacity.
The move created an opportunity to rethink how the available warehouse space could be used and identify the most suitable materials handling solution for the new operation.
Making the most of tighter warehouse space
The new facility was designed with tighter aisles, meaning a conventional counterbalance forklift was no longer necessarily the most efficient solution.
Hiremech recommended an articulated forklift, enabling Momo Kombucha to maximise storage capacity within its new temperature-controlled store while retaining the space operators needed to work safely and confidently.
The articulated design of the truck makes it particularly well suited to narrow-aisle environments. While Momo Kombucha ultimately chose not to work with the tightest aisle configuration possible, it still provided a valuable advantage by creating additional safety space for operators when handling products.
Helping operators adapt to a new way of working
Introducing a different style of forklift naturally required some adjustment for Momo Kombucha’s operators.
The team found that the new equipment took a little time to get used to, but additional training and practical guidance soon helped operators become comfortable with the new operating style.
The result has been a positive addition to the company’s materials handling fleet, with the new truck helping make operations within the new facility easier and more efficient.
More than just equipment
For Momo Kombucha, the relationship with Hiremech extends beyond the supply of forklifts.
Reliability, ongoing service support and the ability to adapt equipment as the business has changed have all played an important role in the long-term partnership.
Hiremech’s Ben Creighton has worked closely with the business as its requirements have evolved, while our service team has provided the ongoing support needed to keep operations moving.
Georgia Roulston, Operations & Account Manager at Momo Kombucha, said:
“Hiremech has been a perfect supplier over the years with top level service and sales support from Ben. They’ve been flexible when we’ve gone through changes in equipment specification requirements and have always been there throughout the growth of our business, we wouldn’t look anywhere else as they’re a top tier supplier.”
